Queer narrative & Queer criticism: Possibilities & Challenges

What are the meanings of queer reading/queer criticism in the context of Vietnam? Is this an act of publicizing codes of sexuality underlying in the texts? Or is this an act of revealing the psychology of homophobia disguised in various expressions? Or should we conceive of it as an alliance with the social movements struggling for the rights of LGBT which has developed with high enthusiasm recently? Or should we better think of it as an attempt to establish the aesthetics of queer art on its own right?

A brief introduction of queer theory (ies) and examples of queer narratives in literature and cinema will be discussed in the seminar to ignite thoughts on the above questions.
