Trương Quế Chi
An M.A. graduate of Film Studies from the University of Paris III: Sorbonne Nouvelle, Trương Quế Chi is active in both the visual art and cinema scene as an artist, a curator and an educator. Her personal practice delves into the complex relationship between archive, memory and imagination, explores the ability to rethink history and current events by staging fragments of the past and the present, and examines the authenticity, formation, disposition and disintegration of visual images.
Her works have been featured at various local and international film festivals, exhibitions, and symposiums including among others the Oberhausen International Film Festival in Germany; Les Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin – New Cinema and Contemporary Art, Gaité Lyrique in France, Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Germany; Torino Film Festival in Italy and the Symposium of Contemporary Việt Nam: Literature, Cinema and Language at National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations in France.
Quế Chi is currently a member of Nhà Sàn Collective’s curator board and the Department of Cinema at the Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema. Her second solo exhibition is scheduled to take place in late 2016 at the Factory Contemporary Arts Centre in Hồ Chí Minh City, as part of the Conscious Realities series initiated and organised by Sàn Art in partnership with the Prince Clause Fund.
